History and nature

Drawing "en plein air" with 8 people really motivatedThanks to all!I have sketched a window conquered by vegetation, it is a part of the ruins of the "Casino dei Boschi" a villa with a Landscaped park, built in 1800 by Borbone and used after by Maria Luigia of Austria, wife of Napoleon, the site is now a fascinating Natural Park mix of history and nature, in Parma province. I paint with watercolours Capreolus capreolus, symbol of the Park, and I use this drawing for the announcement.

Pecten fossil, my dream has come true! Maria Elena Ferrari Italy

We found many fossil shells, where we are digging to build our new home. This new would not it be interesting but we live on a hill 300 m above sea level in Emilia!!! A few million years ago there was the sea floor, and inside these deposits of marine origin have also found this Pecten, shell famous Botticelli's Venus emerging from a Pecten! The brown parts are the parts of the real fossil bivalves (watercolor on Fabriano sketchbook) where is broken he left his mark (white parts). I'm quite excited to know that you have in your hands and be able to sketch something that has perhaps ten (or less) million years ...!!!If there is an experienced paleontologist between you ... I am curious! My dream has come true: to have a beach house!

New and old - Maria Elena Ferrari

I decide to make room for new paintings (sometimes I can not) than I decided to put on sale the "old" they take up space in my studio and especially in my mind, for exemple this head of a young Buzzard, 2005, gouache on Fabriano paper.

The patient Bear

I made this paint one years ago
(WIldlife Artist meeting in Argentario) gouache on paper Fabriano, I like the strange idea that the picture viewer could identify oneself with a...honeycomb hung on a tree, for example or (an absurd and imaginative hypotesis) imagining
himself to be perched on abranch with feet ... a patient bear! I'm joking naturally!

Trip in Germany - Maria Elena Ferrari

Hello everyone I am just returned from a trip (few days) in Kalbach (Germany). Really interesting places, this is the first sketch: a great cow of the Scottish Highlands race... very nice to skech these beautiful animals left to graze in the wild. Don't ask me if they are good to eat, because I'm a vegetarian!!

Welcome back Scops Owl! by Maria Elena Ferrari

The Spring is coming! Welcome back from Africa Scops Owl, nocturnal bird, very small size, ground colour. The territorial call is like "chiu", rhytmically repetead, feeds mainly on insects, and it's so amazing for me!!I seem to be two different animals! This watercolour is a Scops Owl guest in the CRAS Parco Stirone.

Gannets by Maria Elena Ferrari Italy

I saw this Gannets (Sula bassana) in the Ecomare's centre on Texel island (protected nature reserve in Netherland). I hope one day to admire them in nature in their spectacular diving!
I'd like to put on paper animals, landscapes and emotions of that wonderful trip ...
The Gannets perform vertical dives from at times considerable height!! They breeding in the North Sea, in colonies on rocky islands.
Recently they breeding also in Mediterranean Sea!

sketching - by Maria Elena Ferrari Italy

The sketchbook as a mirror, the sketch confuses him with the subject, there is some us in every sketch of ours...every time we draw, we open our heart to the others, the spring arriving with new subjects, but the emotion is the same one!
