Common Vampire Bat

I like bats very much, they are so unusual, a but scary, but very cute! Our zoo has a good collection of them, this particular one is not from Australia, it is American. I started it as a pencil sketch at the zoo and finished at home with pastel and wax crayons.

Love in a mist

This started out as a coloured pencil drawing as that is the easiest medium to use for the delicate leaves.  I love the plant for the way the flowers change colour as they mature and the fascinating seed pods which last for ages and give me next year's flowers without any effort on my part!  I added the misty background later to go with the name by rubbing on pastels with a bit of felt wrapped around my finger. I hate the mess involved with pastels so this the only way I can use up my collection!
