Sometimes a painting holds special, personal meaning for the artist. This is one. I won't pretend the artwork is anything special, in fact a summer drizzle came along and appeared to add snowflakes to my stormy summer sky. No matter. It captures a moment in time for me.
When I started it was sunny. I spread my painting stuff out on the hood of the car. What caught my eye was a turkey vulture soaring with a stormy sky moving in from the west. Dale and I were out savoring a day out together, celebrating our 50th anniversary. Our official celebration was last night, but today, June 27, is the actual date of our marriage.
Fortunately the drizzle was brief. I could have sought shelter in the car, but it was so delicious standing outside, I chose to stay there. The sun soon came back to help dry my paper.
I feel very fortunate that after fifty years we are still exploring nature together and appreciating each other's company.
Happy anniversary!!! What a lovely way to celebrate...with someone who enjoys the same things you do and sketching the wonderful scenery. Wishing you many more years of communing with nature with each other. :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting and story. I had to comment, as last year while vacationing on Prince Edward Island rain also sprinkled on one sketch I was doing; It turned into my favorite watercolor sketch from that trip as I can still feel the moment when nature touched my painting with it's gentle hand.
ReplyDeleteWishing you many more years of the "wonder of nature" together
