Sandhill Crane

Sandhill Crane by Teri DC
Sandhill Crane, a photo by Teri DC on Flickr.
Early one morning when I went out for a walk, the first thing I heard was Sandhill cranes croaking off in the distance.
I immediately wrote the Haiku in my mind:

That unearthly croak
Floats across the autumn sky
Sandhill cranes on wing

And then painted the crane on pre-painted paper.
Never know when inspiration will hit you.

  7. Thanks so much everyone. We can hear those cranes almost all summer, one of the benefits of living in a rural area. Their sounds really stir something in my soul.
Sometimes those Haiku words just spill out of me. I must be thinking in 5-7-5 syllables. :)
