Early one morning when I went out for a walk, the first thing I heard was Sandhill cranes croaking off in the distance.
I immediately wrote the Haiku in my mind:
That unearthly croak
Floats across the autumn sky
Sandhill cranes on wing
And then painted the crane on pre-painted paper.
Never know when inspiration will hit you.
So elegant and ethereal Teri. The poem too!

Wow.. lucky you to see one of those and you did it justice with the drawing and words. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this piece, Teri! Your choice of sky colors and the elegance of the crane really sing. I'm in awe that you can whip out a haiku so quickly! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much everyone. We can hear those cranes almost all summer, one of the benefits of living in a rural area. Their sounds really stir something in my soul.
ReplyDeleteSometimes those Haiku words just spill out of me. I must be thinking in 5-7-5 syllables. :)
This sings ... both art and words!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elva.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful... I can hear the melody!!!
ReplyDeleteI was searching for Crane Haiku's and found your Haiku and painting.
ReplyDeleteJust one word - WOW-
Thank you both. I'm happy you like it.
