Redheaded Finch - Maree

Poor indeed is the garden in which birds find no homes.
Abram L. Urban

Redheaded Finch (Amadina erythrocephala) - watercolour in Moleskine

The Redheaded Finches are nesting en masse in the Butterfly bushes (Buddleia salvifolia) at the pond in my garden, and what a noise! They're sharing their space with the Bronze Mannikins and the buzzing and tweeting fills the whole garden. I did a quick sketch of this one keeping an eye on me and then finished toe colours off from my bird book.

  5. Nice bird painting! It reminds me of the House Finches and Purple Finches we have in Georgia (USA)...they are often at my feeders, especially the House Finches.

  6. Thank you Debo! We have finches in abundance and if one looks closely, they are truly extraordinary little characters.
