No Clue - Sandra Rice


Found during my walk along the sea shore, and in town too - Gorgeous plant that gets huge - Wonder what it is - Any Ideas?? Sandy from Myfiddlestix

  1. From your excellent rendering, this looks like pokeberry to me. Some parts are poisonous, some edible, better look it up ot talk to an expert...I've never tried it! It's quite a handsome plant, and I think you captured it beautifully!

  2. yep, I would agree that it looks like poke. I've always heard that the berries are poisonous; but the young leaves are edible. Quite bitter and not a plant that I would care to eat, although my grandmother loved to fix it. (As in the song, "Poke Salad Annie"...) GREAT drawing!

  5. Definitely poke weed - and you've captured that wonderful spray of berries so nicely! Phytolacca Americana is the scientific name and here is a lovely information page:
