This was a pretty interesting paper-wasp (aka Yellow Jacket) nest I found in an old bird feeder. I had never seen a double-decker nest before. The top part looks like it was from the year before and the bottom section is newer. This was not an active nest when I got it! I am also working on a sketch of this from another angle but it is pretty complicated... I will post it also when I finish.

They are just a miracle of engineering, aren't they? Lovely job, Laura...I think the color and texture of the paper really complement it, too.
