We found this pretty butterfly under a chest of drawers when we were cleaning today. I can't find it in my field guide so I wonder if anybody out there knows what the species is? I live in northern France so that may make a difference.
Thanks Stewart, I've never seen one of these before but I will keep a look out for live ones now. Kate, I started to use the tinted paper after seeing one of your gouache sketches a while back and now I'm hooked! I have just finished this sketchbook so I'll have to make myself another one soon!
Hi Your butterfly is a Magpie Moth. It is quite common here in the UK...
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Valerie...I'm loving the effect on toned paper.
