On Guard: Kingfisher

Dale and I stopped to watch, photograph and sketch a kingfisher.

.... and then something caught the kingfisher's attention.

Up there, way high in the sky, soared a falcon.  It was so high I never would have noticed it if I hadn't looked to see what the kingfisher was looking at .

  1. Wonderful, Elva! I love these little birds and their rackety voices.

    1. Thank you Kate. They are one of my favorite too ... and all too often perch just a little far away. This one was cooperative.

    2. Yes, I usually see them across the creek! Or flying up and down...

  2. What wonderful sketches Elva! the little Kingfisher is beautiful. Yes, I also often only see what's in the sky on the cue of a bird, their eye-sight is absolutely wonderful.

    1. I once had a pet great horned owl. He'd see things I couldn't even find in the sky.

  3. Neat setches Elva. I especially like the one where he is looking up.
It is always exciting when I see one around here (not very often).
