Journal Sketches from the Midwest...

Of course I had to try my hand at that "SuperMoon."  We hopped in the car in our nightclothes and drove up the hill for a better look!  It just glowed...30% brighter and 14% larger-appearing at its perigee, closest to the earth.

  2. Nice sketches Cathy! The moon is vibrant -- good example of chiaroscuro, the effect of placing your darkest darks next to your lightest lights!

  5. You captured it beautifully Kate! I was hampered in painting it this year - we have a big wall around our property and if I wanted to see it on the horison, I had two choices - climb up and sit on the wall or find the keys and open three gates to get out and go around to view it. Needless to say, none of that happened!

  6. These are tremendous! At your mention, I ordered one of the Platinum Carbon Pens not long ago - and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I am going to have to follow suit, though, and get that long pointed end off of there before I lost the cap!

Love these. You are such an eternal source of inspiration!

  7. It's an easy fix, Micael...and isn't that a marvelous little pen? SO fine a line, and yet so dependable. I love mine...I've refilled a cartridge with brown ink, so I have one each.

  8. So great that you were able to get a glimpse of that radiant moon. It was too overcast here (East of you).

  9. Sorry, Zoe! And it rained like crazy the next night, so I was REALLY fortunate.
