Nature's Air conditioner - Maree

“The net cooling effect of a young, healthy tree is equivalent to ten room-size air conditioners operating 20 hours a day.”
—U.S. Department of Agriculture

The jacaranda trees are in full bloom all over South Africa right now and they put up a truly spectacular show of purple as well as a carpet of purple blooms, which pop and crunch under your feet as you walk over them.

  1. I've heard (read) about the Jacaranda tree but never really knew what it looked like. It's beautiful. I love your description of the way the blossoms pop and crunch under your feet.

  2. Thanks a lot Paula. Yea, as children we used to run up and down, jumping on the flowers and entertaining ourselves for hours! What DO kids do for entertainment these days?!
