Ink montage

It's been lovely watching our cardinal family next to the shed this summer...I'm worried that I haven't seen the mother or the babies peeping up from the edge of the nest, though.  Here you see dad, perched nearby and popping in to feed them from time to time.

Normally I'd add color to an ink sketch like this--but cardinals are SO colorful, and I like the subtlety...

  1. What a great sketch! And on what looks like a lovely sketchbook too - Where did you get it? I have never managed to find one that I like yet!

  2. Lovely sketch. I like the decision to leave it white and black. A cardinal is easy to identify without color and my eyes enjoyed the movement of lines and shapes.

  3. Thank you both! Vickie, maybe that's what I was feeling! Sorry, Sandra, I made it!

  4. The ink sketches are wonderful in themselves! The cardinals are a nice juxtaposition to your architectural elements - a real sense of humans living in conjunction with nature.

  5. I do love that connection, Elizabeth! I used to try to only focus on nature subjects as if this were wilderness, but for the most part it isn't. We're sharing the habitat, and sometimes wildlife's incredible adaptability just amazes me.
