Full Worm Moon • Full Crow Moon

March's full moon has many names! The Farmer's Almanac was a wealth of information :)

Other names: Full Crust Moon; the snow thaws by day, freezes by night forming a crust. Full Sap Moon. Quick! Time to tap the maple trees. I so fondly remember the pancake breakfast at Cuming Nature Center in western NY. They made great maple syrup there.

Early settlers called it a Lenten Moon, the last full moon of winter.

  1. A beautiful moon Pam! The past two nights our moon has been in and out of heavy clouds - a beautiful sight! Didn't get round to painting it though.

  2. Lovely moon sketch! Hopefully the clouds will clear here soon so I can give this a try.

  3. Just this morning I was admiring the full moon. Here we have no palm trees which make such a pretty sketch but I was looking through maple and Ash tree limbs framing the Moon. Great sketch.

  5. I saw this on your Flickr photostream, too, but couldn't resist looking at it again here! Interesting that this month's full moon has so many names...no favorites; I like them all!
