Those shiny leaves really caught my eye, too! Magnolias have such beautiful leaves and the cones are fascinating - you've caught them both so well! Ours are in the same stage here in Florida.
Teri, I think the Magnolia is an American Magnolia. I asked my friend that has one in her front yard and she says this is what it is...just in case you wanted to know. I just love the sketch.
A friend of mine tells me the southern variety are much more evergreen than the ones that grow all over the Midwest, but he'd planted one of these lovely glossy things in his yard in Missouri, and it's thrived!
ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS, TERI! THE RICH GREENS, THE SHEEN ON THE LEAVES, THE SIZE, CONE -- EXCELLENT EXCELLENT JOB!
ReplyDeletePerfect glossy leaves, Teri! I love taking walks at our son's near Sugarland, TX in the spring -- nearly every yard has a magnolia tree in full bloom.
