Cicada

I finally made time for another insect!

Cicadas are just fascinating to me... I watched one emerge from its shell the other day and that was amazing. This is not that one. I couldn't collect it after it had worked so hard getting out of that shell and inflating (is that the right word?) its wings. I found this one drowned in the dog pool.

Ink & watercolor in the watercolour Moleskine.

  5. Hey - just thought whoever drew this ought to know I used it for my first tattoo design :) Yer cicada's on my arm and it's very pretty. Thanks!

  6. Um...anonymous? You really need to ask permission when you use someone's artwork.

  7. Wow. That didn't occur to me, since I wasn't using this design to make a profit or claiming it was my work, but I guess on second thought the tattoo artist made some money by reproducing parts of the drawing, which is ethically bad. It's a beautiful image, so if Ms. Gillis feels she is owed some compensation she can get in touch with me via this thread and we'll work something out. Sorry for being thoughtless. Also, Kate, your condescending tone is annoying.

  8. You can read tone from one sentence?

It's just an issue I have to deal with my students about fairly often, because people don't realize that because it's on the 'net, it's not free for the taking. Sometimes I guess I have to be annoying to get the message out there!

That little copyright mark (c) with Laura's name lets us know she doesn't want it reproduced without her permission, though.

And you're right it IS a beautiful image!

So how can Laura get in touch with you if you're anonymous? Can you give us contact info, please? Thanks!
