Thread Legged Katydid

This is a Thread Legged Katydid.... the book says that it is identified by it's "absurdly long legs" and they are quite right. Kinda like a katydid on stilts. The book also said that these are mostly restricted to Texas -- where everything is bigger anyway! ha. They are also found in the Southern Great Plains and parts of the Southwest. He was a very interesting specimen with those freakishly long legs.

Ink & watercolor in the Moleskine watercolor journal.

  1. Fabulous detail, right down to the subtle shadow!

  2. The shadows are wonderful, Laura--they add so much!
