The Tree Girl

These are some sketches that I made while at Snow Farm. I didn't bring my laptop with me and they didn't have a tv, so I ended up doing a lot of sketching while I was there (the whole point!). Some of the other guests didn't quite "get it" in the beginning of the week. They started staring, whispering and calling me "the tree girl". One person asked me what I was doing and I actually had to explain the whole concept of keeping a sketchbook. I was doing the bottom drawing at the time and I likened inking in pointillism to a form of meditation. I think she got it then. After awhile they stopped bothering me and by the end of the week they were all fans.

  4. Beautifully crafted trees! I love the way you show texture. After looking at the Snow Farm website, it seems funny that they didn't get the sketchbook concept...maybe they were decidedly urban folk. My husband first thought it was humorous when I took photos of trees and rocks, but he has a wider appreciation of nature now!
