Natural History books

Several people have asked me privately about my natural history books--I wrote or was included in quite a few, mostly in the 80s and early 90s. All are currently out of print, but if you're interested, you can click on this link to see what's out there. You can usually find them on Amazon or through other secondhand sources.

The one above was my first, my favorite, and the one that still gets quoted! Life is funny, isn't it?!

It has a wonderful foreword by my friend and mentor Ann Zwinger, who is one of the foremost artist/naturalists in our field. If you haven't read her books or seen her wonderful, precise drawings, DO it.

(And by the way, the Isley Park Woods Missouri Natural Area looks JUST like that, right now, with the trees leafing out and redbuds in bloom. 'tis the season!)

  4. I'm glad you enjoy it, Chris! I'm extremely pleased with how it's grown and fulfilled and exceeded a lot of my initial plans. It IS fun to keep up with nature in other parts of the world, through an artist's eyes.

How nice that you draw together!

  6. Thanks! If you can't find one, Jeanette, I've got a few on hand. Some are used, a couple are library copies, but in pretty good shape.

And hey, I've got that rich resource of our Flickr group--I've invited several others from there that haven't responded yet or haven't had time to join us.

    Fun, isn't it!?
