Yesterday we took a drive along the eastern shore of Lake Somerville . . . at least as far as one can drive before reaching water. Texas flood conditions continue with many lakes beyond capacity and overflowing. This lake is closed for at least the next two months --- water is well over campsites with their electric hookups and boat ramps. Many hidden obstacles out there to run a boat into.
We were able to drive to the overlook next to the spillway to take a look. Even the wildflowers are stressed from too much rain, though I found a few to draw anyway.
Это прекрасно!
ReplyDeleteLovely drawing! Can't wait for the rain to get out of here! Feels like we haven't seen the sun in central Texas in MONTHS!
ReplyDeleteWe'd gladly share if we could --- there are many parts of the country who really need it.
DeleteBeautiful page . You are getting our rain. We have had hot sunny weather here in Washington. I so hope you all will get the sun back soon.
ReplyDeleteThis weather cycle is strange! When we lived (briefly) in Washington, then Oregon, it seemed to rain all the time.
DeleteI love seeing these, as you discover your new home...
ReplyDeleteI continue to discover new varieties of wild flowers (and have no idea what that "berry" looking plant is), but this year is so different! Last year the area was still in drought; currently we're in "Noah build another ark!" mode.
DeleteThat is SO cool! Well, not the ark thing, hope it's not a problem where you are, but doesn't it bring out things that haven't bloomed in numbers before!
DeleteWe are high & dry here, if you don't count a wee onslaught of rain runoff washing sand out of my herb bed and onto the patio. We had to scoop a beach back to its place a few times, but the HOA fixed the ditches so it runs to the culverts again.
DeleteThe lake is closed for at least 2 months with campsites, roads, etc. underwater.
Lovely flowers.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elva!
