Here's a double spread of a collection of treasures I made with my grandson while we were in England a few weeks ago.
The empty crab shells were very fragile and I had to carry them home carefully but the starfish was alive so he went straight back into his rockpool after being photographed. My daughter reminded me of the saying for travellers: 'leave only footprints and take only memories.'
Lovely sketches! Are you still using Museum Aquarelle pencils for these?
ReplyDeleteThanks Dory, yes I am still addicted to the Museum pencils. For this sketch I wetted them in some places like the seaweed and crab shells and used them dry on the feather and details on the starfish. Have you tried them yet?
DeleteBeautiful memories . I really like the toned paper, I have not been adventurous enough to use it yet. How much sketching did you have time for in your visit?
ReplyDeleteThanks Alissa, do try the toned paper, coloured pencils work very well on it, especially if you remember to put down a layer of white under any thing pale. I had more time to sketch with my mother in law than with my grandson! I have posted all the sketches on my blog, Colours in the Breizh at http://valeriejaneg.blogspot.fr. Do go and have a look.
