Yellow Rumped Warbler

My husband found this poor Yellow Rumped Warbler in the yard.  He said it must have happened not too long before as it was still pliable.  So, being aware of my desire to sketch nature, he brought it in, and I sketched it.
I feel bad when something in nature dies but it was a great opportunity to study and sketch it.

  1. You are braver than I am. I found a blue warbler dead in the garden. I thought about drawing him, but I gave him a burial instead. You did a great job.

  2. What a lovely tribute to a pretty bird. Like Zoe I found a bird a couple of years ago and photographed it before burying it, I think now I would take the time to draw it first. Did you keep any of the feathers to draw later?
