I have to get up in the high country of the Cascade Mountains to find these burls. Whenever I find them I hope to have tie to draw them. I was sitting on an old log, lovely summer day, no mosquitoes, and along came a grey jay to see if I had anything to offer. I'd already fed him quite well when I was eating my own lunch back at the car. No more goodies left for him.
One more ......
I love the way the bird is keeping his eye on you while you draw!
ReplyDeleteIt was a special treat to have him come along.
DeleteGreat sketches. Have you ever seen the beautiful bowls woodcarvers make from burls?
ReplyDeleteYes, Carol. I have a beautiful one a friend made for me. I love how the grain of the wood swirls
DeleteBeautiful, Elva! I have a very odd branch covered with burl-like warts I need to draw, you've inspired me--as you often do.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to see your drawing!
DeleteLovely sketches. Not sure what burls are..but that bird sure was eyeing you for more food.:))
