Deck Decor

The squirrels and birds have been decorating my deck with bits and pieces of what they're feeding on--lots of tree buds and hackberry fruits, it appears!

  1. Very nice, Kate. I had to look up "drupe" and in case anyone else was stumped, here's the definition:
a one-seeded indehiscent fruit having a hard bony endocarp, a fleshy mesocarp, and a thin exocarp that is flexible (as in the cherry) or dry and almost leathery (as in the almond)
Then I had to look up indehiscent, endocarp, mesocarp and exocarp! Thanks for the vocabulary lesson!

    1. Wow, that is the most complex definition of drupe I've ever heard! We BOTH learned something!
