Chestnuts are bursting open all over the place here in our corner of northern Brittany. They seem smaller than in previous years despite all the rain which I would have expected to swell the fruits. Maybe they need more sunshine too!
It seemed sunnier in August when I drew this a couple of months earlier but then the rain came back!
Such wonderful sketches Valerie! And such a nice memory. I used to live near some venerable old chestnut trees and I miss them even though the bloom filled the air with an almost unpleasant odor and the falling chestnuts were dangerous little bombs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paula, I agree with you about the odour but I love to see the prickly bunches nestling on top of the leaves catching the sun (when it shines!)
