June's Full Moon

As the Full Strawberry Moon rose over the trees, it looked like the Great Pumpkin!

It's been a while since I've been able to paint a full moon.  'Twas a lovely evening.  No humidity and the only bugs were those attracted to my light.  Several drowned in the water on the paper.  Then there was a rather large moth that paid a visit :)  I had to shut my light off as it was making it impossible to see my page!  Luckily the moth took the hint :)

  1. Absolutely gorgeous PJ! The moon was exceptionally lovely last night, but somehow it always seems smaller in winter. Brighter, but smaller...

  2. Thanks, Maree! Interesting about the seemingly smaller size. Perhaps the cooler temps and crisper air are at work?

  4. Hey PJ--love this one! I find it so difficult to paint the night so I really like it when others succeed.

  5. I was happy to see this image in your post. Looks just like you were walking with me and my kids at Clear Lake, CA this past June, 2o13, and the same moon and clouds appeared for us. I had left my camera inside, and by the time we got back to our room the scene was gone. This painting has the same feel to it, now I'm inspired to recreate the wonderful experience to add to the future scrapbook pages. Thanks!
