Sparrow by Paula
I have lots of these little fellows in my garden but this particular one was done from a photo by a friend. This was a first for me...I "drew" him directly with brush and watercolors. No pencil or ink drawing first. I just pretended that I was sketching from life and didn't have much time. I found it to be much quicker and looser. Maybe it was the glass of wine I had first...

Lovely! It's fun to test ourselves... it can be terrifyingly freeing. It makes me feel more connected when I paint without a net :) Or draw with ink.... so committed!

Aaaaw, what a cutie Paula! I often paint with no preliminary sketching, but tackling a bird is very brave of you! Beautifully done!
