This is my first contribution to the ‘Sketching in Nature’ group. I’m in Belgium nearby a lovely botanical garden, woodlands and heather fields.
The main medium I work with is coloured pencils although I like to make quick sketches with graphite pencil and water paint to study objects like birds, butterflies and bugs.
The main objects of drawing for me are Bugs, Butterflies, Birds, Botanical and other Beautiful things. I hope my contributions will be at least as enjoyable as yours!
May I start with this little Crested Tit? It visited us last week. It wasn’t too shy since we could enjoy its visits to the bird feeder. However, it was lowest in the pecking order and had to wait till Great Tits, Blue Tits and Nuthatches had their seeds.

Paula, we're delighted to have you join us! It will be fascinating to see the creatures of Belgium.
ReplyDeleteI love your Crested Tit watercolour. Very nice indeed.
ReplyDeletePaula, welcome. You have painted this tit with such brightness and personality.
ReplyDeleteFabulous painting filled with so much life. This is the way bird paintings should be.
ReplyDeleteHi Paula, Its a delightful sketch...maybe it turned out too yellow in the scanning ?
ReplyDeleteHi, Concetta, I agree with you. Making great photo's has been the most difficult part of 'blogging' so far. Too often the colours differ too much from the original work. I now outsource most of the photography. I'll upload the same bird with more natural colours soon.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for all the comments!
Paula
Welcome! I too look forward to seeing what you find in Belgium. This little tit is full of life.
ReplyDeleteConcetta, I've replaced the yellowish photo with a better one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments. Paula
