Azalea Time - Pam Johnson Brickell

Azalea Time by PJBee

Oh the colors of Spring. The Azaleas are popping out all over the place.
Today Rob and I went to Hilton Head National Golf Course. He to practice, me to paint. Time well spent by both of us :)

  1. This is lovely. Love the colors in the foreground. Is this in your sketch book? How long did it take to do? What a fun way to support your Hubby. :)

  2. Hi Cris, Thank you! Yes this piece is in my sketchbook. Well, I say sketchbook but it's not been bound yet. I work on folded pages that are 5.5 x 7.5. I'm still testing paper. I think this was Fabriano HP. We were at the driving range for 2 hours, not all painting time, a lot of waiting for the wc layers to dry and watching Rob hit golf balls :) I did my lettering there, too.

I'm super pleased with this page. I think it's one of the best plein air wc sketches I've ever done. I see using it for note cards :)

  5. Wonderful painting, beautiful design and colour. Most of all though I love your lettering. Hand lettering like that seems to be a dying art but really adds so much to the painting.

  6. Thank you, Peter! I'm with you. I love hand lettering and get as much joy from celebrating each letter as I do sketching :)
