Nina, I almost always like Peterson Field Guides, FWIW. And what wonderful sketches, looks like a delightful walk...
ReplyDeleteSince you're in California, you'll want David Arora's Mushrooms Demystified. Some of the names are outdated but you can still look up them up online and the newer name will pop up. The Peterson Guide has lovely pictures but isn't so great for our state. Also, check out www.mushroomobserver.org which originated in California and still has a lot of western mushroom observers. Bay Area Mycological Society has lots of information, too, at http://www.bayareamushrooms.org/.
