On one of our trips to Hartebeespoort Dam a couple of months ago, I just couldn't resist sketching these two little boats moored in front of the coffee shop. Four little boys, who looked no older than 8 or 9 to me, had stopped for a quick soda before pushing off and paddling around the dam again. I watched them leave, wondering to myself about the fearlessness of children, also remembering my childhood, doing things we were specifically forbidden to do, like playing on the huge dunes of the mine dumps and at the edge of the river! If parents only knew...!
