Jarvis Creek Park - Pam Johnson Brickell

Jarvis Creek Park
Originally uploaded by PJBee
Jarvis Creek Park is a lovely little spot on the north end of Hilton Head Island. There is a pond that attracts Osprey, Wading Birds, Anhinga and Cormorants.

I was sitting on the fishing dock (can't swim or feed the gators here) while sketching the far shore. A Cormorant joined me at the far end of the dock. Just for fun, I sketched him with a Koh-i-noor Magic pencil. These pencils are so much fun as they have many colors of lead in one pencil.

  1. We have osprey, anhinga and cormorants living here all year long. I love to watch the anhinga and cormorants with their wings spread wide...and the ospreys in their huge nests or as they fly overhead on their way to fish in the Gulf waters close by. Love your sketch and I'm familiar with that lovely little park. Spent many a lovely vacation on Hilton Head where my aunt and uncle lived.

  2. I just love the cormorants Pam, it's great when they're nearby, spreading their wings to dry out. Great sketch!
