Iris ~ Elizabeth Smith
Sunday – rainy and stormy – a perfect day to get out my reference photos of this native iris. I took these on Easter Sunday as we meandered through the Corkscrew Sanctuary Boardwalk. These are also blooming at Freedom Park in Naples, dotting the wet ground in subtle bursts of color.
I’m trying out my new Kimberly watercolor pencils in the Aquabee sketchbook. So far, so good!

ReplyDeleteOh, my, your wc pencils worked beautifully here! How delicate...and the color is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE posts like this, so much information packed into one page of beauty...
Beautiful botanical (that's fun to say!). You have such a delicate hand with pencils!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures you have here. I like it. I want to draw nature (especially the flowers in my my mum's garden). It's still in my dream now, but I will, soon. Meanwhile, I manage one blog for my students works (batikmania.wordpress.com). I will ask them to visit your beautiful blog. I will visit you often ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful page and delicate sketches!! I just love this particular iris and have tried rendering it before. It's a tough one to do (for me, anyway, both in shape and color) and you captured it so well!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your lovely and generous words! I felt I was lucky on this one - after several false starts I finally found the rhythm I needed!
