Watkins Mill St. Park plant - Vicky Williamson

During a recent day-trip to Excelsior Springs, MO, we took time to drive up to Watkins Mill State Park. I needed reference photos for a children's book I'll be illustrating in the near future.

This is one of the colorful plants seen along the nature path. I'm not sure what it is, but it was the perfect choice for a color-study in an on-line course I've been doing. This exercise was to paint a simple scene using only complimentary hues.

  1. It is so pretty! A book sounds exciting. Good luck.
