Quince - Sigrid Frensen
Yesterday Michiel Thomas, a friend I met on Flickr, came to my house to buy one of my drawings. He brought me a large branch from his Quince he has in his garden. On the branch were 3 quinces and I decided to draw one of them. I first made the sketch and today I added the colours. Here it is :)

Outstanding, Sigrid! Love the variation on the leaves.
ReplyDeleteSigrid -- this is ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!!!! WOW!!
ReplyDeleteI love how you've captured the sturdiness of the stem, the round fleshy quince and the drooping leaves. You've outdone yourself!
ReplyDeletePerfect capture of that velvety underside on the leaves! Growing up, we had a quince tree in the yard but never harvested and used the fruit. Instead, the quince's chief claim to fame was the time my 8 year old sister climbed up in terror caused by a stray dog!
ReplyDeletesure wish I'd known then what I know now about eating quince.

Just lovely! The curves, natural leaf folds and shading are beautifully illustrated. I'm always amazed when I see colored pencil renditions that are so well captured. Such patience!
ReplyDeleteColours and texture are just wonderful. I like how you posted both drawing and finished project
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering if this was colored pencil. I just love the subtle to strong variation of colors. You really brought this drawing to life.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so very much! It looks huge, but I made it in two days.
ReplyDeleteJeanette you always make me laugh :)
Lisa, it is coloured pencil. I don't feel comfortable with my watercolours enough to make such a "big" drawing.
