spring blooms
It seems like spring will never arrive for good here in Kansas. For over a month now we have had teaser days with temps in the 60s, followed by the coldest cold (below freezing!) --- even a springtime blizzard!
The poor early-bloomers in the yard are confused! The jonquils finally gave up even trying, crocuses never showed at all. But these tulips I planted for Bill have been glorious! Each morning they are tightly shut, then open throughout the day. Tuesday's temperature reached into the 70s with bright sunshine, opening the tulips up to the max. I wish I could have captured the luminous quality to the red with the sun shining through the petals.
Grape hyacinths have been plentiful, especially since Bill has been unable to get out to mow our weedy lawn. The vinca is just now starting to bloom. Maybe spring has decided to stay.
