Hello everybody! My name is Carolyn Pappas and I am thrilled and honored that Kate invited me to be a part of this blog. I am a New Englander and these days I generally spend most of my time in Massachusetts and Connecticut. In the photo above you can see some of my work as well as a photo of me when I was busy inking one day this past winter.
I've been into art ever since I was a kid but I was never really serious about it. In 2005, I started blogging which really encouraged me to practice and improve my skills. About a year ago, I really started to strive for daily sketching and it has been a great success so far. I work primarily in graphite, ink, colored pencil and some watercolor thrown into the mix sporadically. I love sketching out in nature and I am just starting to get back into it after a really harsh winter here. Besides nature sketching and botanical/floral type subjects, I also love to draw portraits and still lifes.
I find that keeping a sketchbook is a great way to visually document what is going on in my life as well as a relaxing pastime. If you'd like to take a look at some more of my work, you can check out my blog here and you can also see a lot more on my flickr photostream. Take a look if you'd like and I can't wait to see everybody else's great artwork that will show up on this blog!
