Last sunday I was relaxing by the Lake of Bracciano, not very far from Rome (Italy) miserably low since last year's terrible drought. The emerged sand and silt banks have been colonized by vegetation and fauna, and swallows are benefiting from the abundance of bugs and worms. They land and start pecking the moist sand, and fly to the nest with worms dangling from their beaks. Lovely to sit by in the midst of their chirping acrobatics, and let my pencil follow them.
