I have never considered myself a scientific illustrator, but I got a job to create illustrations for Asilomar State Beach in central California, so I have been trying to create, not scientific, but at least sort of acurate watercolor sketches of Asilomar plants. The place I practice is in my journal.
OUTSTANDING! I think the illustrations are not only accurate but incredibly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Gay--they'll be thrilled, I think.
ReplyDeleteAnd really, the soft outline on the rattlesnake grass works! Funny, eh?
They are incredibly beautiful - your comments are too funny, I can relate only too well!
ReplyDeletestunning! they look very accurate to me!
ReplyDeleteI love these, Gay, they are so delicate...I'm sure they will love each and every image.. I have been asked to do a fritillaria for an organization in Oregon... you inspire me to get in there and practice.

Stunning- I love the way you make your text beautiful, too!
ReplyDeleteI love that about Gay's pages, too, Jeanette, and Hannah Hinchman's, too. You guys are inspiring me to brush up my nearly-nonexistent lettering skills!
ReplyDeleteThank you all. The way I practiced my lettering skills (I was always the worst in my caligraphy class because I was, and still am, too impatient) was to address 200 invitations for my daughter's wedding. Of course I messed up about half of the envelopes and had to re-do them, so I got lots of practice.
ReplyDeleteWOW. Now THAT is dedication! You certainly did learn...
