This is one of the sketches I did while on an art trip to my old painting area Taos, New Mexico. The colors always overwhelm me when I go back. The forest and flowers etc are just crazy there. Everyone is probably familiar with these flowers because they grow all over the world basically. I love them with their big bloomy selfs and different greens that cascade from them. I didn't do it justice but I enjoyed it. Done in my little Moleskine in watercolor.
These can grow to 6 feet high over a decade time span. Enjoy
Blogger hiccuped! I commented on this, Ricky, and it went away. We're glad you're back, and oh, these are lovely. I had no idea they grew in the Taos area too...
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate, It's nice to be back.
ReplyDeleteHope you can make it to sketchcrawl this time!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Visitors should especially click on the image to see it larger to do it justice. Lovely greens you found in the foliage - they look so alive.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elizbeth.
ReplyDeleteI think you really expressed the Rhodo in the "wild" so to speak. Not all precious and pampered but loose and bold and self-sufficient before they got tamed and put in every garden. I really like this.
ReplyDeleteToo good blog post about Wild. Thanks for that.
