Sketching Nature...outdoors and in!

I'd always heard that gray squirrels and fox squirrels wouldn't share territory...ours sort of do, but not necessarily happily!  What did surprise me was that the smaller gray was the victor.

And even though Norman is now an indoor fish, I find watching and sketching him still fits my definition of nature as it interacts with man.  Most interesting!

  1. Norman is so pretty! Makes me want to get a goldfish again. I used to have one named Aurora Borealis. I really like the way you have notes interspersed with your sketches throughout the page. And so cool that you have Fox Squirrels! I don't think I've ever even seen one.

  4. I'm in awe of Norman's portrait ... you make it look so easy, and you know how to go right to the essence.

  5. Thanks so much, all! I'm glad that things return to approximately the same position, 'cause they move a LOT. Norman is indeed a pretty boy (or girl, who can tell!) And oh, yes, I love my squirrels. Definitely NOT wanting to exclude them...

  6. I showed your drawing of the squirrels to my husband. We've watched several generations of the same squirrel family in our backyard for 26 years. They're big and orange, but we never knew what kind they were! After seeing your drawing, he finally identified them--definitely fox squirrels. Thanks for stimulating our curiosity, Cathy.
