Eagle Owl video

Kate, if you think this is inappropriate feel free to delete it but I was so interested in Maree's info about her owls that I thought everyone might enjoy this little video. It's the eagle owl she was referring to. the video is one of the most amazing I've ever seen--be sure to watch it all the way to the end. I'll bet you'll watch it again! http://www.dogwork.com/owfo8/

  1. P.S. this is best watched full-screen on something larger than a cell phone for the full effect!

  5. Wow Paula! What a video! It's fantastic to see how he puts on the brakes, wing flaps lowered like those on an aircraft, ready for the landing - those feather close-ups are out of this world! And yes, I DID watch it a couple of times!

  6. I thought of an aircraft too Maree. But I also thought about being a mouse and looking up to see that coming at you! Yikes.

  7. Just a thought about training these nocturnal animals in captivity so they can show off in daylight...I'm not so happy about it.

  8. Concetta, I agree with you so I did a little investigating and discovered that this owl lives in an eagle and raptor sanctuary in the UK. Here is the website address if you're interested: http://turbarywoods.co.uk/
I couldn't quite tell if all their birds are rescues and if they release them into the wild after they are rehabilitated (like our local wildlife center in VA). They do indeed talk about training the birds and have "flight days" when they show them off to the public. Anyway, thanks for your input.
